Up for sale is a beautiful, highly sought-after Kenwood KD-650 Quartz-Locked Direct-Drive Turntable from the golden era of vinyl. This flagship unit is in excellent overall cosmetic - one small ding in the front corner of the plinth (see photos) - and mechanical condition - functions flawlessly. The KD-650 is legendary among audiophiles for its massive, non-resonant synthetic marble/granite plinth (weighing over 15kg / 34 lbs) which eliminates acoustic response completely. The quartz phase-locked loop system locks onto speeds instantly and spins with dead accuracy.Included Premium Cartridge:This turntable comes fitted to its original factory Kenwood headshell with a vintage Audio-Technica AT15SS dual-magnet cartridge. Known for its rare beryllium cantilever and nude Shibata diamond stylus, this cartridge delivers reference-grade detail tracking, wide channel separation, and incredible acoustic fidelity. The black stylus assembly tracks beautifully and sounds fantastic.Condition Notes:Plinth & Controls: Excellent. The faux-granite composite base has a small ding at the front, left corner (see photos) but is otherwise free of blemishes or cracks. All buttons, speed switches, and quartz locks actuate cleanly and work perfectly.Tonearm: S-shaped tonearm moves smoothly, cues perfectly, and has clean anti-skate functionality.Dust Cover: The original dust cover is intact with no cracks or deep gouges, showing only light surface scuff marks consistent with age.Hinges: The original hinges are securely connected and swing correctly, but like most vintage Kenwoods, the internal springs no longer hold the lid open on their own.
