Super Round Authentic Rare Antique 18TH Century Bronze Sundial THOMAS GRICE 1705 For Sale

Here we have awonderful antique 18th century bronze garden sundial. The sundial is signed howeverthe name is a little wornalthough it appears to read 'Thomas Grice 1705' please see the photograph. This is a lovely original 18th century piece. There is a star to the center and the Roman numerals around the outside along with the name.The bronze has aged nicely and there is a natural verdigrisfinish to the piece.

Around the edge are the words 'The evening hour is nigh. Seize the present moment'

In 'Brain Loomes Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the Worldvolume 2' is listed 'GRICE Thomas. Town not stated1705. Sundial(Prob. London, where one such a. 1667 to Richard Amens).' This is likely that this is the sundial noted in Loomes book.

The APPROXIMATE dimensions are: 7 5/8 inches / 19.5 cm in diameter x 3 1/4 inches / 8.5 cm high

CONDITION: Overall a lovely antique sundial.The bronze has aged nicely and there is a natural verdigrisfinish to the piece.
