This exquisite antique Japanese Imari porcelain bowl is a magnificent example of Meiji-period craftsmanship, dating to the late 19th or very early 20th century. Measuring a generous 9 inches in diameter, the bowl features a traditional fluted, scalloped edge that beautifully frames its rich, hand-painted decoration. The interior showcases the classic Imari palette with vibrant underglaze cobalt blue, rich iron-red overglaze, and detailed orange floral motifs. At the center sits a lovely circular medallion of blooming blossoms, surrounded by intricate alternating panels of phoenixes and floral sprays along the inner walls. The exterior is equally captivating, decorated with a scrolling karakusa (vine) motif and iron-red roundels enclosing stylized leaves. The underside displays a beautifully clean, unmarked white porcelain base enclosed by a traditional hand painted blue ring, highly characteristic of authentic export wares from this golden era of Japanese ceramics.
This piece is in pristine antique condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restorations. The glaze remains smooth and lustrous, and the hand-painted colors are exceptionally vivid.
