Impressive antique cut crystal claret jug or wine decanter dating approximately to the turn of the 20th century. This tall, elegant piece features a tapered crystal body richly decorated with traditional geometric cutting, including brilliant starbursts, diamond cross-hatching, fans and elongated leaf-like cuts.

The underside is finished with a large radial starburst, while the matching removable crystal stopper is itself deeply cut with geometric and star motifs. A silver-plated metal collar incorporates a graceful pouring spout and an exceptionally long curved scroll handle, giving the jug its distinctive silhouette.

The combination of brilliant cut crystal, elongated conical form and metal-mounted pouring hardware is characteristic of quality late-Victorian and Edwardian table glass. Comparable English silver-plated cut-glass claret jugs are documented from the 1890s and circa 1900.
