How to read the FSM number

Flank Drive
Flank Drive is Snap-on's socket geometry, and it is the reason people pay for these. The socket contacts the flats of the fastener rather than the corners, so the load goes where the steel is thickest instead of where it rounds off. On a bolt that has already been chewed up, that difference is the whole job.

A note on flash rust
This socket is wiped down with tool oil before it goes in the mailer, which is the best defense there is. It is not a guarantee though. Bare steel can pick up light surface flash rust in transit if it meets humidity or a temperature swing on the way to you. It is cosmetic, it comes off with oil and a rag, and it is not a condition problem with the tool.
