Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage Japanese Noh / Kyōgen theater mask, hand-carved out of solid block wood over 20 years ago.
This striking piece features the intense expression of a traditional theatrical entity, sharing design characteristics with the Yakan (fox spirit) or Shishiguchi/Ja (demon/serpent) character types. It is adorned with signature metallic-rimmed golden eyes, gilded teeth, sharp furrowed brows, and miniature head bumps.Artisan Authenticity:
The back of the mask shows beautiful master chisel strokes (nomi-ato) and features an authentic, carved oval artisan seal reading \"須憲\" (Sukenori), a mid-to-late 20th-century Japanese mask maker.Specifications:
