This exceptional folk art piece is a "Devil Eyes" Face Jug handcrafted by the highly celebrated North Georgia folk potter David Meaders.
What Year Was It Made? This face jug was made during the late 20th century to early 2000s (specifically between 1984 and 2020). David Meaders officially joined the legendary family pottery business in 1984 under the guidance of his uncles. He actively potted using traditional regional styles until his passing in 2020.
Where Was It Made? It was made in the historic Mossy Creek district of Cleveland, Georgia, USA. This area in White County is famous as one of the oldest foundational hubs for traditional Southern Appalachian folk pottery.
Condition: Collectors Grade, “as fired” pristine condition. The bottom of your jug features David's authentic hand-incised signature ("David Meaders") alongside the family business name "Meaders Pottery". Weight 5.545 pounds. Height at handle 9.5 inches. Width at middle 6 inches. The glaze on this face jug is a traditional Southern alkaline glaze refined by the Meaders family.
