Set of 2 Vintage Italian Majolica Wall Plates Heraldic Lion & Eagle Crests 10-1/8”
Gorgeous, authentic matching pair of vintage Italian Majolica decorative wall plates. Perfect for an interior design gallery wall or symmetrical plate rack display, these two pieces of art pottery were created together as a true companion set.
Each piece features an exquisitely hand-painted Renaissance revival heraldic coat of arms at its center:
Plate 1 (Eagle Crest): Features a crowned black imperial eagle perched over alternating diagonal blue and teal stripes on a gold shield.
Plate 2 (Lion Crest): Features a striking, vibrant yellow lion rampant (rearing on its hind legs) against a rich cobalt blue shield.
Both chargers are framed by matching, identical borders featuring traditional Rafaellesco style cobalt blue scrolls, fine crosshatch netting patterns, and vibrant burnt orange tendrils and geometric florets.
The reverse sides are hand-marked with matching pattern/factory inventory numbers 67104 and "MADE ITALY" in blue script. I'm not sure if they are mid or late 20th century .
Both foot rims feature factory-drilled holes equipped with sturdy, twisted wire hangers, making them ready to immediately hang and enjoy.
Great, vintage condition! One plate has some marks on tbe front, see last 2 pics . No chips, cracks or repairs . The glazes remain bright and shiny with beautiful color depth. Please see all photos for close-up details of these stunning hand-crafted pieces.
