The bowls are deeply hand-cut with a classic motif featuring crisscross/strawberry diamond panels flanked by sharp, radiating fans.
Attribution & Maker Details:
Attributed to C. Dorflinger & Sons (White Mills, PA). While unsigned—as was standard for the vast majority of fine stemware produced during the American Brilliant Period—the glass clarity, overall blank quality, and sophisticated stem construction strongly point to Dorflinger. C. Dorflinger & Sons was legendary for creating custom art-glass blanks featuring multi-faceted baluster stems with trapped teardrop air bubbles (captive air tears).
Stem & Base Architecture:
What elevates this set to a true collector’s rarity is its stem: a hand-formed, multi-faceted hollow baluster stem encasing double captive air teardrops (one positioned directly at the base of the bowl and the second suspended within the center knop). The underside of each foot is finished with a deeply cut 24-point starburst pattern.
