Its dense, compact growth habit reaches 8-12 feet tall. Best performs as a hedge, mass planting, screen, and accent plant in the landscape or in a container. This adaptable evergreen shrub needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Shearing is recommended to maintain desired shape. Red tip photinia shrubs generally do well in sunny conditions and have a good tolerance for drought. They will tolerate some shade, but dense shade makes them susceptible to fungal diseases. Continual pruning of the shoot tips will prompt continued production of the attractive reddish leaves.
