Up for sale is an incredibly rare statement brooch by the legendary Milanese couture house Ornella Bijoux. Designed by head couturier Maria Vittoria Albani during the golden era of Italian fashion (circa late 1960s to early 1970s), this "fantasy barque" or sea-ship brooch is a breathtaking example of wearable art.Ornella pieces were strictly handcrafted in highly limited boutique quantities. Nautical and vessel themes from this house are exceptionally scarce, making this a crown jewel for any serious vintage costume jewelry collection.Design Elements & Artistry:

• The Sails: Features a stunning mixed-media dual-sail design. One sail is crafted from heavily textured, brutalist gold-tone metal anchoring a natural piece of raw red/orange branch sea coral. The adjacent sail is beautifully encrusted with an elegant faux pearl and contrasting aqua blue rhinestones.
• The Hull: In true Ornella fashion, the bottom of the boat is constructed from fluid, multi-strand cascading light blue seed bead fringes that perfectly mimic the motion of ocean waves.
• The Reverse: Signed with the authentic, clear stamp: "Ornella Made in Italy". Features a secure vintage trombone pin mechanism and clasp.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition. All seed bead strands are perfectly intact with no missing beads or loose threads. Rhinestones are bright with excellent color. Some of the faux pearls have lost their luster coating, but all are present. Gold-tone plating is bright with minimal, age-appropriate patina.
