Make a statement with this rare vintage Lucite and brass Tempus Fugit mechanical wall clock, an exceptionally distinctive timepiece combining traditional European regulator clock styling with the bold transparent materials associated with Mid-Century Modern and Hollywood Regency design. Dating to approximately the 1970s–early 1980s, the substantial clear acrylic case features architectural Lucite construction, brass-tone columns and finials, an ornate arched crest centered by a Tempus Fugit globe medallion, a classic Roman numeral dial, visible brass movement housing, and a long pendulum.
The clock produces a delicate and beautiful Westminster chime every 15 minutes, adding the traditional sound of a mechanical chiming clock to its striking modern presentation. Its design recalls period Lucite and brass clocks associated with Howard Miller as well as German mechanical clock and movement makers such as Kieninger, Hermle, and Urgos, useful reference points for this unusual style rather than an attribution to a specific maker.
