Rare vintage Rubel Ebonite Mid-Century Modern serving/barware caddy designed by Fred Press, retaining its original factory hangtag. This striking atomic-era design features a glossy black Ebonite body accented with ribbed gold-tone detailing and a tall sculptural copper/bronze-tone twisted loop carrying handle. The dramatic geometric styling is quintessential 1950s Mid-Century Modern.
The original red and black hangtag reads “RUBEL Ebonite – Designed by Fred Press,” while the reverse states “Manufactured by Styson Art Products,” providing excellent original identification and designer provenance. The caddy appears to have originally been part of a larger serving or barware set and is being offered as shown, without the original accompanying inserts/accessories. An unusual Fred Press collectible with particularly attractive atomic styling and the scarce original identification tag still attached.
Good vintage condition with original hangtag. Glossy black Ebonite body and sculptural handle display well overall. Shows age-related surface wear including light scratches, scuffs, dust/residue and some rough edges, wear/tarnish to the metallic-tone accents and handle. There is visible wear along portions of the base/rim consistent with age and use. Please see photos.
