An unusual and impressive fossil-bearing nodule from Hobetsu, Hokkaido, Japan.
Multiple vertebra-like fossils are naturally exposed within the matrix. According to the provenance information accompanying this specimen, they have been identified as shark vertebrae.
Approximately four fossil elements can be visually observed.
This is particularly interesting as the fossils remain naturally associated with the original matrix rather than being offered as isolated individual vertebrae.
