Rare BOSTON & SANDWICH CLAMBROTH GLASS FIGURAL BEAR JAR /LID-STROUSE, NY-GOOD For Sale

For sale is a rare, 19th century glass ointment jar...Boston & Sandwich is considered to be the maker of this clambroth glass figural bear...in good condition. From a local estate...see our seller\'s list for more fresh finds. Height is about 4-1/2\". The 2-part molded, muzzled bear is in a sitting (begging?) position. Embossed on the underside is F B. STROUSE and NY., purveyors of the jar and contents, generally thought to be ointment. Some say it was also designed as a match safe. See the pictures for the form, design details, marks and condition which is good. The few damages appear to be at the edges of the closure top and bottom. A (very) few small chips and a couple short lines are present. No chips to the vulnerable feet or the points on the head. No discoloration. No roughnesses to the textured surface.
