Rare Circa-1930s Handmade Mechanical Craps and Dice Gambling Game

Offered by Goodson Gallery is an exceptionally unusual early twentieth-century tabletop mechanical dice game, accompanied by its hand-painted wagering cloth.

Believed to date from approximately the 1930s–1940s, this one-of-a-kind gambling apparatus was constructed in a dark-stained wooden cabinet with a circular glass-covered dice chamber, two period-style dice, painted red carrying handle and manually operated mechanical controls.

The dice are contained permanently beneath the domed glass and appear to have been mechanically agitated or launched by the exterior mechanism. This allowed the game to be operated without players directly handling the dice, creating a fast and visually engaging form of tabletop wagering.

Included with the machine is an original-style dark cloth betting layout with hand-painted yellow markings for:

* Craps

* Under 7

* Over 7

* Even-money wagers

* Individual dice totals including 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12

* Additional handwritten payout ratios

Unlike a standard three-dice Chuck-a-Luck cage, this apparatus uses two dice and appears to combine elements of craps with simplified Over-and-Under Seven wagering.

The handmade cabinet, irregular hardware placement, hand-finished wooden surfaces and crudely painted gaming cloth indicate that the apparatus was likely produced privately or in very limited numbers rather than by a major commercial game manufacturer.
