Rare Antique Japanese Arita Imari Meiji 9.75” Shishi Lion Porcelain Plates Pair For Sale

Beautiful matched pair of antique Japanese Arita/Imari porcelain plates, each measuring approximately 9¾ inches in diameter. Selling as a pair. Origin / Period:
Japan, Arita/Imari, Meiji period (1868–1912), probably late 19th to early 20th century.Each plate features a striking central shishi (Japanese guardian lion) surrounded by decorative cord and tassel motifs. The wide paneled border is richly decorated in the traditional Imari palette, incorporating deep cobalt blue, iron red/orange, turquoise and green enamels, delicate floral and botanical motifs, and gilt detailing.The combination of the unusual central shishi decoration, elaborate paneled borders, and matched presentation makes this a particularly distinctive pair.Both plates bear faint underglaze-blue marks on the reverse, which are shown in the photographs for reference. The marks have not been definitively attributed to a particular kiln or maker.Condition:
Excellent antique condition. Remarkably, neither plate has any chips, cracks, or hairlines. No repairs have been noted. As antique pieces, they may exhibit minor age-related surface or gilt wear consistent with their age and history.
