We have a very rare and amazing Ambrosius Lamm Dresden porcelainDie Meistersinger Nurnbergopera cabinet plate. This incredibly beautiful plate is fresh to the market from a San Diego estate that had some magnificent pieces in Asian art, (including lots of Japanese antiques) besides antique furnishings and decor.
It has this amazing gilded border with musical instruments, masks and swans. An ornate gilded scepter style divides each cartouche and in each there are 2 opera scenes and 2 landscapes. I assume these are hand painted but not going to guarantee that. The plate is just, um.... AMAZING!!!Marked as shown and as with some German porcelain pieces I have had over the years, the blank porcelain was marked and covered up. Heavy raised gold Studios like the Lamm company in Dresden often used gold paint to cover the original maker\'s mark (in this case, Rosenthal) to obscure the source of the blank and highlight their own studio decoration.
It is in excellent antique/vintage condition without chips cracks or repairs. Extremely fine minor surface wear, this was well taken care of and loved.I will be posting more items from this awesome home so keep checking. It measures about 11\"wide. It weighs lbs 1 lb 10 oz before packing. It will be packed extremely well.
