RaRe 1976 Tama 3550 OHSC by S. Yairi-Cedar Top-Brazilian B+S's-Kohno Style Build For Sale

The 50 year old Beauty is a rare 1976 Tama 3550 w/OHSC classical guitar, featuring a solid cedar top and high-quality Brazilian lam back and sides. The guitar has a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard, It is right-handed and comes with an OHSC case candy. This vintage guitar was crafted with precision and attention to detail by one of the best in the Biz Sadeo Yairi, These were Clearly not made by Tama themselves as Wiki States. Just looking at the Build itself, Cue's like the Rounded Corners of the Neck block and his font used for placing Model # and serial # on the Neck block also match what S. Yairi, used on his stuff. Even the Green pieces in the binding itself and the fact that all wood pieces were used as binding, clearly denotes what S. Yairi made a staple on his contracted Builds. Not to Mention the Hidden Truss rod adjustment behind the nut! Traits like these were also used on his Lowden Builds as well! So many people who have had these simply did not know who the real Builder was! S. Yairi was Born in 1908 and his Old style of Building some of the best Acoustics ever shows! He also made the Tama Steel String ALL SOLID Models too. As well as the ALL Solid TC-10 I will soon be listing! Neck is Straight and Playability is Very Good! Even a little room left on the original Saddle! Match this Beauty up with my 1976 Kohno Model 10 and besides the 2 Ebony neck stiffeners on the Kohno, it is quite obvious there was some copying going on here!! Even the Headstock is a Match for Kohno's! All High Quality Parts too! The Colors in the Binding are shifted around some between the two but none the less a copy! Even the Secondary woods used for Bracing inside the Body are a match too!! Now wait until I list my 1978 Tama TC-10 next!! That one is a Spot on Kohno #10 Copy (You do notice how the "10" Is a match right off the bat!). I will say the Beauty of The Brazilian High Quality Lams, that Like his Cousin K. Yairi, he made his own Lams in his shop too! Simply are Breath taking!
This is one Super Well Made Japanese Classical Guitar! Action at 4/32" Low E 12th Fret- 3/32" High E 12th Fret. With Saddle Still Showing for further adjustment (pictured)! Top is Nice and Flat too. Neck Joint is Solid as a Rock and Neck Angle is as it should be! This Guitar has Amazing Tone with Great Intonation. Full Robust Lows that can seem to Growl at you, Mids and highs are nice and Tight Sounding with Beautiful Crisp Harp like tones! This Beauty is Very sensitive to the Players touch, making the Guitar's Volume easily controlled by the players own sensitive Touch or Plucking ability! Harmonics are also Clear and Concise! Simply a Pleasure to Play!

• High Quality Brazilian Rosewood Lam Back & sides. Like his Cousin K. Yairi , S. Yairi Made his own Laminates, these are 3 equal layer laminates with Solid Brazilian top and bottom with a piece of solid Mahogany sandwiched in the middle with its grain lines turned 90 Degrees for strength. (Basically 2/3rds is all Brazilian)
• Full Circle Sound hole reinforcement (instead of small Pieces wood mounted in a makeshift circle on the underside of the top at the sound hole, Full Circle reinforcement uses a square piece of solid Cedar with the same size hole as the sound hole, is mounted underneath making the Cedar twice as thick at the sound hole for uniform reinforcement) Pictured! in my book this is the very best way to reinforce the sound hole.

• All Solid wood Bindings with Brazilian RW Showing final layer (Layered with Red & Green Stained wood as well, Throughout the trim) In what I would call "in the Kohno Style Build" not to mention it is also "in the S. Yairi Tradition as seen in his other Built for others offerings" (Lowden).
• Very Rare Hidden Truss Rod, most people simply wouldn't even know it has an adjustable Truss Rod! Well She does! And it works well! Tucked Completely Hidden away within the Neck, having an adjustment Wheel located under the Solid Bone nut, (Last Picture)
• AA Mahogany is used for Back Bracing as well as Top & Bottom Kerfing. The Cedar Top is FanBraced with Pine.
