Here, I'm very pleased to offer a great item that I hope will be of use to someone.
This is the top to a donabe, or pottery Japanese rice cooker/stock pot. It is made from white clay and fired in dark brown with a volcanic glaze on the exterior which leaves tiny craters as shown.
It is in excellent condition -- however, it is JUST THE TOP. The pot portion unfortunately arrived badly broken and could not be saved.
The top has, as can be seen, its traditional round "handle" which also serves as a foot when inverted. It also has one quarter-inch hole designed in to vent steam, as shown.
This top is in EXCELLENT condition and could serve as a top to a donabe you own -- or could be a bowl to display fruit or perhaps small plants. It is 10 3/4 inches wide in diameter measured across its widest points.
It stands 3 1/2 inches tall, with the foot accounting for about 1 inch of that height.
