RARE ANTIQUE BATAK TRIBAL CARVING LARGE EARLY 19TH CENTURY DATU PIECE IMPORTANT For Sale

I collected this piece from an Archeology Professor over 35 years ago. The piece dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is a Batak / Northern Sumatra / Indonesia Serpent carving with 6 tribal voyagers on their spiritual ride. The piece measures 27 in long , 16 1/2 in tall and 4 in at its widest point. It retains its ORIGINAL age related patina . There are some separation points which are also age related but the piece is more than structurally sound. These are mainly at the jointery points which just reinforces its age and authenticity .There are also hand wrought nail heads visible. This is truly a rare find as it has survived ! MOST/ ALL ? original pieces were destroyed as they were deemed unlawful by early European Missionaries circa 1830 ?. This is more than museum quality!
