A very nice 1924 presidential signed commission for Coast Guard Chief Boatswain Lorenz A. Lonsdale. The commission is hand signed by President Calvin Coolidge. His signature is crisp and dark.
Also included in this sale is an original period photo of Lonsdale in uniform, and several newspaper articles mentioning Lonsdale serving in the Coast Guard, particularly stopping "Rum Running" during the Prohibition era. The dates on the articles date from 1904 through 1924. Even more additional articles on Lonsdale can be found on
