The pomegranate is widely considered to have originated in Persia, but has been grown over the entire Mediterranean region since ancient times. Fountain-like, upright branches display large orange-red blooms attracting hummingbirds in summer and large, burnished red fruit in early fall. This variety is often used commercially for pomegranate juice, a good source of vitamins and antioxidants. Versatile as shrub, small tree or espalier.
