This exquisite trinket box is a stunning example of Persian Khatam Kari craftsmanship. The round wooden box features a beautiful mosaic pattern and is lined with red velvet. Tge bottom of the box has a glass insert over the velvet bottom. The lid is adorned with hand-set Moorish mosaic, making it a unique and rare piece suitable for any room, any occasion.
Measuring 9 inches in diameter and 1 3/4 inches in height, 3.5” to top of finial, this box is perfect for storing jewelry, vanity items, or other small trinkets or special treasure! It is a handmade original from the late 1800s, and its production technique is called Khatam kari, a traditional Persian art form known for its intricate geometric patterns created by inlaying small pieces of wood, bone, and metal into surfaces. It's a form of marquetry, where artists meticulously craft designs by carefully arranging and embedding these materials into various objects.
