The Dome of the Invalides above the Trees, Paris
Paris park view with the gilded dome of the Invalides, oil on canvas, early 20th century, painted in the Impressionist style, signed lower right, unframed.
Small figures stroll across a sunlit lawn below a dense mass of trees, and above them rise the gilded dome of the Invalides and the twin spires of Sainte-Clotilde, pale against a hazy sky. Napoleon lies under that dome, where his tomb was completed in 1861. On this canvas it is a few strokes of gold above the trees. The signature, lower right, is not yet identified.
