Contains 338 numbered pages with color frontispiece, many line drawings and full-page plates by Charles Livingstone Bull. Decorated end pages. This book is written as \"Told by Uncle Jason\" [an old enslaved man] and several stories are in antebellum dialect. Ornate green binding with color illustration of a fox & cat on the cover, and embossed gilt lettering.

This antique hardcover book is in very good condition, with no text notes, writings or underlinings. It is a CLEAN ex-library with the usual stamps and markings, most neatly removed. Spine and binding are complete and all pages are secure; hinges are strong and straight. Pages are generally clean, with no rips or tears.A bit of minor edge and corner wear to cover boards only. Book is very attractive and displays beautifully.
