Against an intense yellow field, a long dark-green suit sleeve extends across the canvas toward a crisp white cuff and gold wristwatch. Where the hand should continue beyond the watch, the figure simply ends.
The missing hand gives the otherwise polished image a disturbing ambiguity. The suit, cuff and watch suggest status, authority, wealth and control, while the severed endpoint removes the very thing through which a person acts upon the world.
It can be read as an image of power without agency — a man dressed for importance, still wearing the symbols of position and time, but deprived of the hand that could grasp, sign, command, build or take.
There is no visible blood or graphic violence. Instead, the absence itself becomes the central element of the painting, creating a surreal tension between its bright graphic palette and darker underlying subject.
