What You\'re Getting
A small original oil painting — hand painted on canvas panel, signed BJ at the lower right, and framed to a standard the painting deserves.
The subject is a weathered dead tree trunk wrapped in vine, standing in a spring meadow that runs from mown gold at the horizon down into a drift of blue and red wildflowers in the foreground. The handling is loose and confident — the flowers are put in with the tip of the brush, a few strokes each, and the trunk carries real impasto you can see raking across the light.
The framing is a triple treatment: a natural linen mat, a slim inner moulding, and a heavy distressed wood outer frame in weathered oak and sage green with a stepped profile. A sawtooth hanger is already fitted.
Condition & Details
The painting itself is sound. No flaking, no craquelure, no tears, no overpaint and no water damage. Colours are fresh and the surface is even.
Measurements, tape shown in photo 2: the frame is about 8 1/2 in wide x 9 1/4 in high x 1 1/2 in deep, and the visible painted area inside the mat is roughly 3 1/2 x 4 1/4 in.
The frame is distressed by design — the chipping, the exposed grain and the rubbed-back green are the finish, not damage. There is also a little genuine wear on top of it, which I have listed below so you can tell the two apart.
