With 25 fine copper engravings inside. Inside the back of the frontcover is still the original Dutch Guarantee Office Tax ticket from Utrecht , dated 1943, for the silver testing:\"Kantoor van den waarborg - belasting Zilver\". This proves the silver was officially tested as solid silver during WWII. Solid silver from 1763 (!!!) Extremely rare
In original 17th century blind-tooled calf leather over wooden boards, rebacked. All silver fittings present: 4 large pierced and chased silver corners on each board ( 8 total) and two heavy silver clasps. Tested as soklid silver , hallmarked. Original 1943 silver tax receipt from the Utrecht Guarantee office is still present.

Karel Koekebakker (also written as Carel Koekebakker) was a Dutch silversmith in Haarlem who was active in the 18th century, roughly between 1734 and 1777. At the time, he was known for his refined artisanal silverwork.
He became particularly known for creating finely detailed book fittings and book locks. This silverwork was used to decorate and secure valuable (church) books and Bibles.A brandy bowl of his is also known.His official silver mark or master mark is recognizable by an image of a post horn.A well-preserved work of his is a silver church book lock with ornamentation from 1753. This specific piece is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.Koekebakker was part of the rich Haarlem silversmith guild. His work represents the small-scale, luxurious domestic silver typical of 18th-century Holland.
