This is a three-piece split bamboo rod, consisting of the butt section, middle section, and tip section.
The original identification label remains intact and reads:
“No. 24 – 8½ Foot – Line Recommended D or HDH.”
This rod is in excellent vintage condition and you would be hard pressed to find a finer example. The split bamboo retains a beautiful warm amber finish, with the guides and wraps presenting exceptionally well. The original South Bend markings remain clear and attractive.
Features the original South Bend Comficient Grip cork handle and vintage reel seat and hardware. The cork remains remarkably nice for its age, with normal age-related characteristics as shown in the photographs.
Also included are the South Bend cloth rod sock with its original identification label and the aluminum rod carrying/storage tube with threaded cap. The aluminum tube shows normal scratches, scuffs and surface wear from age and storage.
A beautiful and well-preserved example of a classic South Bend bamboo fly rod that should appeal to collectors and vintage fishing enthusiasts.
