NFL Cleveland Brown 1999 Expansion Draft Selection Cards ORIGINAL & UNIQUE
Here is a unique piece of NFL and Cleveland Brown history.
During the annual NFL Draft, have you ever seen the cards that a team hands to the Commissioner that he uses to announce the team\'s pick? Well, here are all the draft cards form the Cleveland Browns Expansion Draft held in February 1999.
The original Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens for the 1996 season leaving Cleveland without a team until 1999. The league held an expansion draft to allow the new Browns team to draft players from the other NFL teams to start the 1999 season. Each team had to make five players available to the Browns, and were able to \"pull\" a player off the list if the Browns took a player from that team.
This set consists of 37 Brown\'s selection, and 36 Pullback cards submitted by other teams (the last pick didn\'t required the 49ers to submit a card as the draft was complete). There are also 55 blank pullback cards that weren\'t used.
Each of the cards is 4\" x 3\" and are in very good shape. These are the original cards, not reproductions or copies.
So, how did I get these cards? In the late 90s and early 00s I worked as a consultant for the NFL Management Council. One of the perks of working at the NFL was that many items came through the office, usually sample products seeking league approval. When the person working with the item was done with it, they usually left it for on the desk of someone who was a fan of the team, or in the breakroom if they didn\'t know one. One morning I came into the office and these cards were sitting on my chair with a note (I don\'t know from who) saying that they thought I\'d like to have these. I\'m a Steeler fan, not a Browns fan, so they must have been confused. I didn\'t know any Browns fans, so I\'ve kept them all these years. But, know I\'m downsizing so...now these can be yours and I guarantee that you\'ll be the envy of the other Browns fans!
