Museum Quality Vintage Staff Sargent George W Warford WW 2 Letters/Pictures/Ephemera From Home, is a collection of original correspondence from a Mother in small town Scotia, Nebraska to her son George during AAF basic training in World War II and after during his travels to many different bases. George served in India for 20 months as a S Sgt Diesel Mechanic for the 883rd Airborne Engineering Co.. 20 months in the Asiatic Theater in India. The letters provide a glimpse into the daily lives of families during this tumultuous period in history. This militaria-themed collection offers a unique perspective on the conflict and is a valuable piece of historical memorabilia from the era. It has George’s Army Separation Letter DD214, change of address notice, thank you letter (signed) by President Truman and 25th Field Hospital photo and several other unique pieces. Some are family photos even of a 7 year old George as well as a tintype of his grandfather George Washington Warford. There’s also a diploma for I’m guessing his son Mark Warford from 1968. There are approx 65+ postcards (a lot are sequential) and a dozen letters in envelopes, some by a girl friend I’m assuming, and some by his mischievous little sister who skipped school and got caught. His mother worried about the chickens because some had died and they had a low egg count. Most postcards end with “Love Mother” and approx 12 out of the 80+ are while George is in AAF basic training and are mostly from March of 1943 to early 1944. Most correspondence is about who died and who is on furlough as well as life on the farm/downtown and relatives health etc… Many surprises in this neat little folder. See photos for more details as they are part of the description. If you want more photos or have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you
