Sowing: In warmer areas, you can directly sow seeds in the spring once the soil hits 70-85 degrees F. To speed up germination, you can either nick the seed coat with a sharp knife or soak the seeds in warm water overnight. In cooler regions, start the seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost; plant the nicked seeds about 1/4" deep and keep the soil moist but not soggy until they germinate, which should happen in 7-10 days if it's warm enough. Transplant the seedlings right after they sprout, as they don't like having their roots disturbed; make sure the soil temperature is at least 65 degrees F and there's no frost risk.Growing: These plants thrive in well-drained, moist soil but can also handle fairly dry conditions; they love full sun. The vines grow super fast, especially in hot weather, so they'll need a good support system like a fence or arbor. If they don't have support, they'll just spread out on the ground until they find something to climb on. This plant self-sows easily and attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Just a heads up, we can't sell Heavenly Blue Morning Glory seeds to folks in AZ or MI.Harvesting: These flowers don't do well as cut flowers, so it's best to enjoy them right in the garden.Seed Saving: After they bloom, this plant will create seed pods that you can pick as soon as the husk turns black.
