Seven original 1950s children’s patterns, all 35c envelopes with the sweet illustration the decade is known for: full-skirted party dresses, sailor-collar dresses, a first-communion dress with veil, a sundress and playsuit with kitten transfer, a midriff top and shorts, boys’ shirts and a vest, and a toddler shirt and shorts.
Condition & Details
The 7 patterns in this lot:
- Advance 8023 (1950s) — girls dress with full skirt and ruffle bib. Size 6. Cut.
- Simplicity 4363 (1950s) — girls sundress and rompers/playsuit with kitten transfer. Size 5. Cut.
- Butterick 6143 (1950s) — girls midriff top, skirt and shorts. Size 8 Breast 26. Cut.
- Simplicity 1900 (1950s) — girls party/first communion dress with veil. Size 5. Cut.
- Advance 8537 (1950s) — girls sailor-collar dresses. Size 6. Cut.
- Advance 7871 (1950s) — boys shirts (long and short sleeve) and vest. Size 6. Cut.
- Advance 7873 (1950s) — toddler boys shirt and boxer shorts. Size 2. Cut.
Checked from the outside only: the tissue was not unfolded and pieces were not counted. “Appears uncut” means neat factory folds; please treat every other pattern as possibly used. Instruction sheets are included unless noted.
The flaws, all of them:
- Advance 8023: flap torn at top; edge wear and creases.
- Simplicity 4363: tears along right edge; stains; edge wear.
- Butterick 6143: pencil handwriting \'Linda / peddle pushers / 4 in wider / 26 in long / make red shorts\'; torn top-right corner; edge wear.
- Simplicity 1900: yellowed tape on right edge; stains; tears and edge wear.
- Advance 8537: purple store stamp \'Patterns cannot be returned for exchange or refund\' over illustration; edge wear.
- Advance 7871: purple store stamp on front \'Patterns cannot be returned for refund or exchange\'; edge wear, corner creases.
- Advance 7873: tape across the top/logo; torn top edge and right side; edge wear.
