London Illustrated News 1872 July-December Half Year Bound Weekly Newspapers For Sale

This is a bound half year of weekly newspapers. The pagination lists616 pages. It is missing three pages. Among the missing are the WHITECHAPEL MURDERS / RIPPER pages. It has many other beautiful full and double page illustrations, and some tinted color pages. The pages are gigantic, measuring approximately 11x15.75 inches (28x40cm). Notable coverage includes China, Canada and Hawaii, along with interesting articles. Has coverage of the UK, America and all over the world. The illustrations are suitable for framing.

CONDITION: The covers have bent corners. The backstrap is present and the binding is holding tight. The index is present. There are old water stains on the bottom edge of some of the pages, but no musty smell. The remaining pagesare clean and bright with only an occasional fox mark. The large double-page prints are tipped into the binding. This was a luxury binding technique of that era, because the double page prints were free of binding holes down the center. THe pages are rich and thicker than most from this era.
