Rebound - 19th century. The binding was identified by the half leather (corners/spine) and by the black title bar and tooled stars. Considered a small bonus to have this type of re-binding.
First Edition - Given the Edinburgh (Thomas Ireland) publishing, identified as a Scottish First Edition.
Good condition. Front hinge is cracked, back hinge is solid. Given that, the binding feels secure, and the text block certainly is. The front cover has a very slight wobble, but solidly attached. Pages are clean/unmarked. Marks and wear to the leather and corners. Light foxing up until the title page, the rear pages are better. Nice copy.
