This product is a vintage L.L. Bean cedar canvas wardrobe, measuring 15 inches in length, 41 inches in height, and 21 inches in width. Condition

Very good vintage preowned condition for its age. Canvas exterior is intact with no tears or major damage, and the zipper operates properly. There is some light storage-related surface residue/discoloration on the fabric, primarily toward the top, as shown in the photos. One interior cedar slat has a lengthwise age-related split/crack near the circular opening; the slat remains in place and the unit is sturdy and functional. Cedar panels show normal natural knots, grain variation and light age-related wear. Hardware, wooden support pieces and hanging hooks shown in the photos are included. Vintage CedarStow natural cedar clothing storage system, featuring an L.L.Bean Freeport, Maine branded canvas cover and original CedarStow instruction sheet.

The included literature is copyright 1987 American Homeware, Inc., dating this example to the late 1980s era. CedarStow was designed to combine aromatic natural cedar with a protective fabric enclosure for storing clothing while allowing the cedar to impart its characteristic scent.

This example retains its warm, unfinished aromatic cedar interior with canvas outer enclosure, zipper access, metal corner hardware and original-style hanging/support components. The natural knots and color variation in the cedar give it a great vintage look.

The original instructions note that the natural cedar oil may become less fragrant after extended exposure and that a light sanding of the cedar can refresh the scent, followed by wiping with a damp—not wet—cloth to remove sanding dust.
