A moody, beautifully composed harbor scene with three fishing boats docked in the fog. The painting is built up in thick palette-knife impasto, and the masts and rigging are incised into the wet paint, giving a crisp etched line against a soft green-and-blue sky. The broken-color reflections in the foreground are especially nice.
FRAME: Original artist-finished frame, gilded with a blue-gray glaze and hand-painted red and blue liner stripes. It suits the palette perfectly.
The frame has considerable vintage wear, including nicks, scratches and losses to the finish. I have made a small amount of cosmetic touch up to portions of the lighter frame surface while leaving the original character intact.

The painting itself shows age related surface cracking/crazing, especially in areas where the paint was applied heavily. There is some localized instability to the thick impasto along the lower portion of the painting. Please examine all photographs carefully.
This is a substantial original work with wonderful surface texture and a distinctly 1970s modernist feel.
