Large Japan Collection 1872-1994 In Two Mercury Albums, Many Early Issues:

This is a collection that I built when I lived and worked in Japan in the 1990s. It is contained in two very nice Japanese Mercury albums with slipcases. The albums cover from 1872 up to 1994, but I concentrated more on pre-World War II issues. The earlier stamps are mostly used and the postwar stamps are a mix. The collection is not complete but it\'s a great start for a new collector or could be a good source of early material for an existing collection. The very early stamps were verified as authentic by a kindly stamp shop owner in Tokyo. I did have to toss a lot of forgeries!
The first album has 34 pages and contains regular issues starting in 1872 plus special types including airmails and the National Parks issues. The second album has about 120 pages of commemoratives starting in 1894 with several early mint stamps. I will include two 1994 Sakura catalogs which may be handy for identification because the albums use Sakura numbering.
