This collection contains pieces in many different stages of the horn-working process—from largely natural/raw horns and cut horn sections to polished pieces, partially carved projects and more extensively worked examples featuring hand-carved eagle designs, turned wood components and fittings.
Several pieces feature carved eagle heads that creatively incorporate the natural cream, brown and black coloration of the horn into the design.
One of the standout larger pieces measures approximately 14 inches long and features an eagle-head design along with attractive turned/carved woodwork at both ends. Another smaller approximately 6-inch eagle-head piece features detailed carving, a turned wooden end and metal/brass-colored fitting.
Several additional horns have eagle designs in varying stages of completion, making this an especially interesting collection for someone interested in continuing the original craftsman\'s work.
Also included are several substantial natural horns, including long examples measuring approximately 17–18 inches with attractive natural curvature, coloration and surface character. Two of the long horns are quite similar in size and shape but are not being represented as a matched pair.
Other pieces include an approximately 18-inch polished and extensively cut/worked horn, an approximately 9½-inch horn fitted with a decorative dark turned spout/end, additional cut and partially worked horns, and other horn material as shown.
Maker and exact age are unknown. These pieces were acquired through an estate/sale setting. Although several pieces appear related in style and workmanship, I cannot guarantee that every item was made or worked by the same craftsman.
This would be an interesting collection for a powder-horn maker, horn carver, traditional craftsman, muzzleloading or black-powder enthusiast, historical reenactor, rendezvous participant, folk artist, scrimshaw/horn worker, or someone looking for natural horn material for craft projects.

These pieces are in varying stages of completion and condition. Some are largely natural horn, while others have been cut, drilled, carved, polished, fitted with wood or otherwise modified.
Expect natural imperfections, rough areas, cuts, openings, cracks/checking, holes, tool marks, unfinished areas, wear and other condition issues associated with natural horn and unfinished craft projects.
