LEGO retired this in November 2024 after a three-year run, and it\'s one of the better-engineered sets they\'ve put out for adult builders. The mechanism is the reason. Press a key and the center typebar rises. The carriage advances as you type. The platen roller takes real paper — you can actually feed a sheet in. None of it is decorative; it\'s all linked and working.
The design is modeled on the typewriter used by LEGO\'s founder, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, and the set includes a booklet with a letter from Thomas Kirk Kristiansen printed in 43 languages.
