\"Król\" is a gangster story set in Warsaw in 1937 about violence, the lust for power and the pursuit of maintaining it at all costs. The story of the ups and downs of the mafia that aroused fear and obedience in the capital before the outbreak of World War II. The main character, a Jewish gangster-boxer Jakub Szapiro, is drawn into a political conspiracy and gangster settlements that may decide the fate of the state.
The series was based on the novel by Szczepan Twardoch of the same title. The author of the novel himself is also a co-writer of the series. It is directed by Jan P. Matuszyński, the creator of the film \"The Last Family\" awarded with the Golden Lions at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

Excellent received by viewers and critics, the 8-episode series \"KRÓL\" was appreciated and awarded the prestigious Telekamer 2021 statuette, awarded by the editors of \"Tele Tygodnia\".
The author of the series, Kacper Fertacz, received the PSC Award of the Society of Cinematographers 2021 for the best photos.
