What do Jan Hammer, Trent Reznor, Vince Clarke, SkinnyPuppy, and Kevin Shields have in common? They all tapped into the unique, aggressive hybrid digital-analog sound of the mid-80s, and the Kawai K3 was oneof the most underrated powerhouses of that era.
I am offering my Kawai K3 Digital-Analog Wave Synth forsale. It is in very good condition—the photos show lint from the white towel Idrape it with when not in use. I have been the second owner, keeping it as aprized component of my synthesizer rig in a strictly smoke-free studioenvironment.
The K3 combines 33 digital additive waveforms withlegendary warm analog SSM 2044 filters, giving you the best of both worlds:digital clarity and grit alongside thick, resonant analog warmth. It featuresfull 6-voice polyphony, velocity and aftertouch sensitivity, a built-in digitalstereo chorus/delay effect, and complete MIDI implementation. All keys, buttons, the data slider, and internal electronics work strictly tospecification. The original manual is included, though PDF versions are alsoreadily available online.
Through wet effects, the synth sounds spatial andmesmerizing. I have used it to create Vangelis-like string and brass pads in mymusic.
I am selling it because I have made a shift away fromthe progressive, art, and math rock that I used to play toward a style that nolonger requires an extensive synth setup. Be sure to check my profile for moregreat vintage synth gear and world instruments.
May it bring you the inspiration and joy it provided meover the years!
