Japanese Inami Wood Carving Shishi Lion Head / Shishigashira
A charming miniature Shishi lion head created in the tradition of Inami wood carving (Inami Chokoku) from Toyama Prefecture, Japan.
The piece is carefully carved from wood, preserving the natural wood grain, and features beautiful gold, red, and black painted details.
Despite its compact size, the facial expression, teeth, eyes, mane, and decorative details give the piece a strong presence.
Shishi lion heads have long been associated with Japanese traditional culture and are displayed as symbols of protection, good fortune, and prosperity.
This example comes with its wooden storage box with Japanese calligraphy and a traditional display cushion.
