Antique Japanese Kozuka – Rooster & Hotei Design – Edo Period
A fine antique Japanese Kozuka (小柄) dating from the Edo period.
The surface features a detailed design of a rooster and Hotei (布袋).
The piece is decorated on a finely worked Nanako-ji (魚々子地) ground, with Gold Iroe (金色絵) accents and sculptural Takaniku-bori (高肉彫 / high-relief carving).
The combination of the finely textured ground, raised carving, and gold decoration gives the piece a distinctive and highly decorative appearance.
