This release is commonly cataloged by collectors as the2024 Mexico Hot Wheels Convention McLaren F1, associated with that year’s Salón Hot Wheels in Mexico City.
However, its identity is not quite as straightforward as the name suggests.
The model was also presented as a2024 limited edition for Latin America, rather than an exclusive identified solely with Mexico. Examples have circulated in Brazil, and the packaging of the example offered here displays theBrazilian tricolor on its spine.
As a result, collectors may encounter the same release described as aMexico Convention Exclusive, aBrazil Exclusive, or aLATAM Exclusive, depending on the catalog, seller, or collecting community.
2024 Latin America Exclusiveis the most careful description of the release. Its association with the Mexico convention is part of its collecting history, while the Brazilian packaging detail is part of the story of this specific example.
It has also been suggested within collecting circles that this McLaren F1 effectively filled the place of the customary Mexican convention release for 2024. That interpretation is interesting, but we have not found an official Mattel statement confirming it as the reason for the model’s classification.
