1. In Japan, old blades must be legally cut down under the Firearm and Sword Control Law, leaving behind sword fragments known as “zanketsu.”
2. This knife was handmade by a modern Japanese sword enthusiast using one of those authentic fragments.
3. The blade retains the original iori‑mune ridge line and has not been professionally polished, so it shows natural black rust and cuts only at the level of a paper knife.
4. The wooden handle and sheath are handmade and fixed together; the knife cannot be disassembled.
5. Both the handle and sheath have areas where the wood filing is slightly uneven, and there is a small gap between them.
6. A unique piece combining Edo‑period steel with modern handmade craftsmanship.
