HTF Antique Vintage Hickory Shaft Spalding Rake Sole Niblick For Sale

Thisitem is a 35\"right-handedoriginal hickory shafted wedge. It is a wedge/niblick with fancy pyramid of lines face scoring. Made by Spalding in their Dysart Fife Scotland factory (anvil cleek mark). The head is made of Rustless metal. It has a most unusual slotted raked sole. Stamped Ebrait (?) Niblick and Patent Applied For on the back. Not sure if the patent was ever granted. Head isin good vintage condition. Has the expected minor play nicks and dings. Pleaselook atthe many zoom pictures to get a better idea of condition. Theshaft is the apparently original hickory. It is straight. I see no cracks, and it has some play at the hosel. Always re-set heads prior to play. The grip is a newer looking long leather wrap that is in good vintage condition. The grip appears to have been installed for play. 55* loft and a D 3 swingweight. Great for play or collecting. Only one I recall seeing.

If you are considering playing with this club, while I see no issues with this shaft (other than those mentioned above), I suggest that whippingbe added just above the hosel to help prevent breakage.These old wooden shafts often have hidden defectsand are liable to break at any time. I do not guarantee wooden shafts or heads against breakage when put into play. Never hit an old wooden shafted club off a driving range mat. Never hit an old wooden shafted wood with a hard range ball.
