Beautiful antique French wedding bonnet
Gorgeous antique French wedding bonnet, I believe comes from the Normandy region of France and were traditionally worn on your wedding day. Beautiful antique lace with many silk and fabric flowers, buds and foliage to the front that trail down the back. The flowers are gorgeous. The bonnet opening that surrounds the face has a ruffle of lace and silk ribbons. The bonnet ties with huge silk ribbons. It’s a beautiful piece that could be worn and so very pretty.I did pay a lot more than I’m asking for this hat. A lovely addition to a collector of antique costume and perfect for display in a cabinet or glass dome.
The condition is very good and clean as shown on the photos. There is one small mark to the bottom of the back and a couple of small zones to the sides. The main issue is the ribbons are very shredded and could do with replacing which is an easy job if you buy some wide silk or sateen ribbon. The inside rim of the hat is marked but this is not visible if worn from the outside. A beautiful hat that makes a wonderful display. So pretty.
