Scarce City of Frankfurt 1848 1-year type issue struck to commemorate Archduke Johann of Austria election as Vicar. Only 36,000 were struck; this issue is hard-to-find in better grades. This specimen is in excellent condition for the type with attractive dark-gray patina; a couple of minor hairlines on obverse are noted for accuracy.
